The investment decision-makers and primary support resources for portfolio founders
Marcus Thornton
Marcus Thornton co-founded Orbit AI after serving as CEO of DataStream, an enterprise data platform that scaled from zero to $80M ARR over five years before being acquired by a major cloud infrastructure provider. Prior to DataStream, Marcus led product teams at two public technology companies and served as a venture-backed CTO at a machine learning startup that raised a $40M Seed Round and was acquired by a Fortune 100 technology company.
At Orbit AI, Marcus leads investments in AI infrastructure, developer tooling, and data platforms. He is particularly focused on companies where proprietary data assets create durable competitive advantages -- a dynamic he observed firsthand during DataStream's growth. Marcus serves on the boards of Vectra Systems, Prism Eval, and Foundry Labs, where he focuses on product strategy, technical hiring, and growth-stage preparation.
Marcus holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from MIT and completed the Stanford GSB Executive Program. He is a frequent speaker at technology conferences on topics including AI infrastructure architecture, venture-scale data businesses, and the operational challenges of scaling AI engineering teams.
Previous Companies: DataStream (CEO, acquired), CloudMatrix (CTO), Insight Analytics (VP Product)
Priya Anand
Priya Anand brings twelve years of experience as a go-to-market operator and two prior stints as an early-stage investor to her role at Orbit AI. Before joining the fund full-time, Priya served as Chief Revenue Officer at three venture-backed technology companies, building sales organizations from ground zero to $25M, $45M, and $60M in annual recurring revenue respectively. She has a particular depth of experience in enterprise sales motions for AI and data products, having navigated lengthy procurement cycles at Fortune 500 customers across financial services, healthcare, and manufacturing.
At Orbit AI, Priya leads investments in vertical AI applications and enterprise software companies. She is the primary board director for Meridian Health AI, Clearbit Legal, and Apex Underwriting. Founders consistently describe Priya's support as transformative for their sales strategy -- she brings a level of enterprise sales expertise that is genuinely rare at the Seed stage, where most investors can offer advice but few have been in the room when the deal closes or falls apart.
Priya holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Chicago and an MBA from Harvard Business School. She serves on the advisory boards of three enterprise AI companies and frequently publishes on enterprise go-to-market strategy for AI products through the Orbit AI Insights platform.
Previous Companies: AeroCRM (CRO), Datasync (VP Sales), Nexus Analytics (VP Sales)
Jordan Webb
Jordan Webb is the technical voice on the Orbit AI partnership, bringing fifteen years of experience as a software engineer, machine learning researcher, and engineering leader at technology companies ranging from growth-stage startups to publicly traded enterprises. Jordan led machine learning platform engineering at a major social media company, overseeing a team of 120 engineers responsible for the recommendation and content ranking infrastructure that served over 400 million daily active users.
At Orbit AI, Jordan leads technical diligence for all investment decisions and serves as the primary support resource for portfolio companies navigating complex architectural decisions. Jordan's depth in distributed systems, model serving, and AI infrastructure is particularly valuable for companies in the Orbit AI portfolio that are working through challenges that do not have well-established playbooks. When a portfolio company needs to understand whether their architecture will scale to enterprise requirements, Jordan is the first call the CEO makes.
Jordan holds a Master of Science in Machine Learning from Carnegie Mellon University and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Washington. Jordan is a published researcher with contributions to major machine learning conferences on topics including efficient transformer architectures and distributed training systems.
